New to South Korea! Need Rope and Routes

My girlfriend and I just moved here from the States. We are in need of 60 Meters of rope, some quick draws and some climbing friends! We live in Gwangju City. Not Gwangju Metropolitan, but the Gwangju just 45 min East of Seoul. Are there climbs near us? Do you have any rope? Any advice, help, or guidance would be appreciated!

Hey there Scott,
You are not too far away from quite a few crags. There are crags/ climbs/ gyms walls etc in Seoul itself:
Or Ganhyeon (Ganhyun/ Kanhyun) should be quite close too:

To find partners you should just look at the upcoming trips forum and see what others are planning. Unless otherwise stated, you never need an invitation, just turn up and you're presence will be most welcome. There are trips and climbing happenng every weekend, and often on weekdays too. Joining a gym (use the search climbs tool on the left to find one near where you live) is a great way to get hooked up also.
If you are lacking gear, that can usually be sorted out. Most people have a bit of extra. When you are ready to buy, check out the Buy and Sell/ Gear Stores Links on the forums page too. Ropes are pricey here but if you hunt around you can get some great bargains on most gear.

Ok welcome to Korea, to KOTR and hope to see you and your girlfriend at a crag soon!

My husband and I really like the shops in Uidong (at the base of the main entrance to Bukhansan, north of Seoul) for buying gear. There are several pretty good stores so you can compare prices and products.

the one called "Oriental Leisure Sports" 동방 레절 off one of the alleys at Jongno 5가 is quite reasonable and down to earth; good selection of gear.
