Gwanaksan South Face (Gyeonggi-Do)

Rock Climb

Crag Description

At least three sport crags and two multipitch trad/sport routes.

Climbing Grades: 6 - 12

Type: Rock Climb Style: Trad+Sport

Safety Concerns

The multipitch is probably bolted adequately for the ballsy. I like to place some extra pro. A lot of the hangers are eye bolts which put some nice torque on the bolts when you fall. And many of the anchors are wire death triangles.

Recommended Equipment

For sport: 12 sport draws, 60m rope and some gear to make an anchor. For trad: 8 trad draws, set of nuts, 0.5-3 cams, anchor hardware, slings.

Directions

From Government Complex Gwacheon Station go out exit 8. Head northwest toward the mountain. Take the first left. Go right when the road ends. Turn onto the trail by the white tower. The trail is marked with the green sign over a brown sign. This leads to a washroom at the base of the mountain. Follow the less used trail on the left until you hit a fence. Turn right and go up the mountain. When trail reaches open rock, there are cairns marking the way. Google Maps Co-ordinates for Crag 1 (Bawisarang amjang): 37.428750, 126.965972 The Hana Dewiyo mulitpitch route starts here. If you head few hundred meters west you will find another sport crag. The third sport crag is halfway up the multipitch. There is also the Gwanaskan Skyway multipitch route up in the same general area.
