Submitted on December 4th, 2005 by skinsk Type: Rock Climbs    Province: Jeollabuk-Do    City: Jeonju
photo A 10a and 10b face and a bolted 10? crack (offwidth to almost chimney!). 15m, 7 bolts (plus anchors) max. Sometimes harsh (granite?) and some decent runout make the crack a very sporty crack and a bold lead for it's grade. Pretty vertical.
Max bolts, 6; typical triangle with rope/wire running through one good and one somewhat corroded bolts. A rope to assist a very steep, dodgy looking "walk off" to the right (we lowered, left a clippable rap ring).... [Read More]

photo Slab, vertical, bulges and roofs, and big comfy ledges, too. 5-15m climbs (though I'm a poor judge and I didn't make a point to take note)
Nine routes (one has two endings) from 5.9-12a. The 5.9 cracks have a few obnoxious pieces of foliage, but make up for it with some nifty laybacks;these cracks are bolted, and really too shallow for gear. The 10's on the left are super crinpy dime-edges, but they work! If you have small fingers or want to practise your footwork, I haven't seen anything like this in the 20 or so climbing areas I've visited i... [Read More]

photo Mostly bolted slab to face (with a few overhanging sections on the long multipitches) climbs, 15-40+ meters per pitch. There are 10 routes on the rock, 4 of which are 2 pitches, one 4 pitch and one 5 pitch (these have trad pitches, requiring a set of friends). Well-bolted and frequently used by university clubs and climbing schools.... [Read More]

photo Limestone reminiscent of Halmaebawi and Sununsan, nearby or even Kan-hyon. Fifteen overhanging routes from 10b to 12 c/d, but they are mostly "manufactured". . . and pretty sharp.

The bolts are new and there are many (6-10) on each short route, with the usual steel clasped and fish-hook triangle anchors (some kinda twisty). Some artificial holds have been added to routes on the right. . . hmmmm. The rock is a little dirty, especially where you might smear your feet to start.... [Read More]

Submitted on April 25th, 2004 by Eric Type: Rock Climbs    Province: Jeollabuk-Do    City: Jeongeup
photo Mostly overhanging limestone rock. Some of the routes offer up friendly jugs, while others only provide the small crimper or slopper.

A good majority of the climbs are 5.11 and 5.12. There are a handful of beginner climbs and 5.10s. If you head to the large boulder to the right of the main wall you will find some easier climbs.

Behind the main wall, about a 5-8 minute hike is the 'Wind Tunnel'. The place looks like a cave where the top has been ripped off. Most of the climbs on these walls are 5.12 or 5.13. On summer days you can f... [Read More]

Sunny Rock 양지바위 Yangji Rock
Submitted on December 9th, 2018 by skinsk Type: Rock Climbs    Province: Jeollabuk-Do    City: Daejeon
photo A "beginner area" on a slabby slab that's 15 minutes from the road (mostly sturdy stairs). There are about 6-7 routes, all pretty much the same. . . lots of frictiony slab with a little roof crux near the end. Chain anchors (need replacement quick links) and high first bolts (most routes only have 2-3 bolts). 30 meter routes, so tie a knot at the end of your rope! For bolts directly under the roof, bring a long sling-- the friction is great for feet, not-so-much for ropes!... [Read More]

Wimungongyeon Bawi
Submitted on September 20th, 2005 by skinsk Type: Rock Climbs    Province: Jeollabuk-Do    City: Jeonju
photo Slab to overhanging. Good rock, decent bolts (typical triangle webbing anchors for the most part). Numerous routes. Wimungongyeon Bawi (on the main path from the small entrance) is labled in fading paint as are the climbs(8 on this face); the easiest, 10a, is labeled "Wimungong" (4 bolts). The first route here is 3 pitches, but the rest are 13 meters. A sport rack would suffice unless you're out to explore the area. A trad rack would really open up possibilities nearby. As you head uptrail towards the Chilseongbong Observation platform, you'll ... [Read More]

 photo 15m tall
no bolts or holds on lower 2.5 meters so you must bring your own (or something to step up on). if bouldering gym is open, you can get materials from them. There are usually groups on this wall in the afternoons that will help out.
pig tail anchors.
bouldering gym is located inside the wall. this was an effort between the Kunsan climbing club and the city of Kunsan to provide a FREE service for local climbers.... [Read More]
