I paid a lot of money for special climbing shoe stuff. . . just before I resoled. . . worked pretty well on really nasty shoes.

i usually wait for the tell-tale multi-coloured colonies of mold to have their fun before i take a scrub brush and bleach to the shoes. keeps em smelling like a clean bathroom for at least a few trips.

I don't understand...you wanna get rid of that lovely aroma? I think it's heaven....I say never take 'em off, wear 'em in a jjimjjilbang and if you must remove them, keep them in a hot plastic bag!
The newspaper thing, for "civilized folk" works well.

Keep them on the outside of your bag once you take them off. I used to put mine back in side my bag once I was finished climbing, but I've found that clipping them to the outside of your bag with the tongue pulled out lets the sweat evaporate, therefore less stink. Well my theory anyway, does seem to have made a difference though.
