Ski/Snowboarding in Yongpyeong

Hey guys,

I'm looking to get out on the slopes soon as the resorts are all opening up.

Yongpyeong looks really good (31 slopes, half pipes and sports massages!)

Anybody interested in checking it out sometime in the next month?

A friend said he had a great weekend at Phoenix last weekend, the base is decent for this time of year and there were even a couple cms of pow on it...^^ (Sad, i know, but good for Korea!^^)

I've heard disappointing stories about Yongpyeong and I wasn't too impressed with it myself when I've been there...

I was thinking about checking out Hi(gh?)-won (sp?) this year...has anyone been out there? If so, how was it?^^

For sure. Yongpyeong is looking as though its slopes are getting more expansive with their snow making getting their first sing black open for the season. I keep an eye on yongpyong every couple of days so when it looks worthwhile I will drop a note and see if you are interested. Cheers

Qasim, my sister and I boarded in Yongpyeong Saturday night from 6:30 to midnight! It was fun and there were barely any people on the slopes. Besides the intense BLIZZARD, it was awesome to shred again!

I am so down any weekend!

Thanks for the beta! I hit up Muju last Saturday. It was pretty expensive and very crowded. In addition, only 4 short runs were open. I'd recommend waiting for this resort. That being said, it was also great to get out again and dodging people as you go down the hill is quite fun.

Update!

If you lovely lot are still interested in getting down and dirty on the slopes the plan is to head to Yongpyong on the 2nd Jan (what better way to celebrate the new year than hurtling down a mountain?)

I've got a few people visiting from Japan who are keen to get there early so we're setting off from Chuncheon around 8 and should be at the resort by 11.

I'm guessing it will be easier for us all to meet there so give me a ring on 010-7548-1983 whenever you arrive!
