Mammut Smart Belay device

Anyone use one of these before? Thinking about getting one -- it's cheap, looks simple and sturdy and Climbing mag endorsed it recently.

Hey, I got one if you want to try it out sometime. If you like it enough, I'd be willing to sell it too. I really liked it a lot and was using it exclusively for a while.

you caught me too late -- i bought it that day and it just came in today! I went to the local bouldering gym to test it out with a strand of rope -- it seems like a great device -- for example it's autolocking of course, and also when you feed rope, your hand is on the brake side of the rope. And i just love how simple it is. can't wait to try it outside -- if anyone is willing to be my guinea pig ....

Very cool man. I always found it easier to lower people with than the grigri too. Good luck finding a guinea pig, lol
