Meet and Greet Food Thread

Well-- now that we have a date (April 16-18) and it looks like a place (Seonunsan), food is always good. Sat night has traditionally been a south of the border burrito line. Sun AM has been pancake breakfasts.

The other meals are looser-- though I usually did a Veg Thai Friday for earlybirds who RSVP. This time I'll do Indian.

Without a car, I'm limited. That Fri is my payday, though :-), so I'll throw in W10,000 for whomever brings tequilla and another W5,000 to say whomever brings cheese and W2000 won towards pancakes.

I'll bring my wok and pancake pans for Indian, and a cutting board and bowl. These can be reused Sat and Sun. Hopefully someone else can bring a sharp knife Fri? I'll also bring my stove and fuel.

If someone has a good list of what's necessary, and can post it. . . people can cut and paste, updating it with what they'll bring. And let me know if you're in for Indian Fri.

I'll bring my stove, pots and pans, coffee percolator with some Timmy Ho's (for the Canadians out there if you send me a message I can put you on the RSVP list!), cutting board, multi tool, cheese, tortillas, pancake mix, and a small assortment of spices.

Totally we will bring some utensils (PLEASE PEOPLE SAVE WORK BY PRE-CHOPPING ALL VEGIES ETC AT HOME!), like knioves, pan, burners and such. Everyone should also bring a BIG (100L) rubbish bag and spend a few minutes each night/ morning (before climbing!) picking up any trash. Certain people always end up doing the lion's share of this when others rush off early to get in their full day of climbing...
SUN morning pancakes (I prefer crepes but whatever) are a great energy starter, so I'll bring some mix and a pan, some maple syrup and so on. Coffee? Never leave home without it! Lots of it!

Leaving Changwon late friday so I'll be rolling in in the morning saturday.

I'll definatley bring a bottle of Ta-kill-ya along with other alcoholic neccesities like beer and a bottle or 2 of soju.

my stove with a cannister o'fuel

As for food, I'm pretty easy, I can bring whatever is needed but I've yet to find many of these treasure troves of unique foods in this country of kimchi
these seem doable

a bunch o'prechopped onions
A bunch of bananas
Milk
something else?

kimchi
Probably a pile of chamchi kimbap too hahaha

should be rad

Ok so I have just seen this thread and am looking at all the food plans. Tequilla will be covered for any and all. As for some of the other food items I am sure I can get some stuff on base to cover it. I will print out the list and see what I can pick up. If anyone has any other items that are hard to find in Korea let me know and I might be able to pick it up on base.

Justin

strange wants and needs that can't be met in Jeonju

I'm looking for tahini (seseme paste) and kalamata olives-- about the only two things I can't find here and really miss.

If anyone coming from Seoul can find liquid parafin (often available in Insadong), I'd appreciate some.
