New Climber in Busan

Hey,

I arrived to Busan a week ago now. Ive been looking for some climbing gyms to go to but I am having trouble finding some that are open during the day. Ive tried one at Sajik and Nampo but on both have been closed. I was wandering if anyone could recommend any gyms as I work mainly in the evening?

Also wandering if anyone will be climbing on the weekends? I have been climbing for about a year now, mainly bouldering, but looking to start doing some sport climbing.

I will be bringing all my trad gear with me. Looks like some nice areas for climbing looking thru this site.

I believe Rock Odyssey keeps some daytime hours, but I'm not sure exactly what they are. You can try calling the gym owner Mr. Kim at 010-4190-4592 for more information, he's got solid English and he can give you directions to get there. It's in the general vicinity of Dong Eui Uni subway stop (green line)

there is a small but dedicated crew of boulderers in Busan. we often train at sajik gym tuesday and thursday evenings and spend the weekends searching/sending. if interested, find us at Sajik or give me a ring at 010-7630-5164 (Matt)

Hey Matt, thanks for the info ill go check out Rock Odyssey. Ive tried going to the gym in Sajik a few times now but they have been closed, what are their open hours. I work in the evening which is the problem. Would love to come outside with you sometime, I dont have a phone yet but will get hold of you when I do. Also havent climbed properly for about 2 months now so need to get my strength back as Im feeling pretty weak!

Hey Matt, tried looking for Rock Odyssey today but the directions on here arent very good. Do you have any idea how to get there from Dong Eui Uni Subway?

Yeah you want to go straight out of exit 2 then make a left just before the large apartment complex. It's a small and slightly seedy looking back alley, just follow it down in the general direction of a big church. There's a pretty large sign outside.

if you sent me an email (palmer.matthewj at gmail dot com) I can send you a picture of some directions.

good luck!
