For those of you who have always wanted to take leads at Halmabawi, but could just heave your way up only the one or two 5.9's there, I have great news for you! Halmae Bawi has opened up five new moderate 5.7 - 5.9 routes in the shade and bit to the left of the main wall. Check it out!

That might send more folks down this way. If you're coming through Jeonju, feel free to contact me (if you need a climbing partner/crash space/local guide). Wed possible, too.

Definitely a good banana. Will wend our way down in the near future, thanks for the updated info. I presume it's all still sport routes and bolt city on the new routes?

Anyone considering going here should check out the thread in this forum, "Bolts in Korea", which details an accident that occurred when a piece of rock that had the bolt in it (the climber was lowering off a single bolt) popped. At any rate, check it out before you go.
