Osan bound in September

Hey all. Just got my orders to Osan. Should be settled by mid September. I am really looking forward to meeting and climbing with some of you. It's gonna be a long year away from my family and I can think of no better way to spend my time then being stuck to the side of some great rock!

Wow, that's a long time from now. I will be leaving mid November but we should be able to do some climbing before you leave. I don't know anyone else here at Osan that climbs other than Jean but he is leaving in like a month.

sounds like a plan. Have you been able to get out at all? It seems like there is a bunch of climbing to be done over there? How about the gym? Anything indoors? It's not my favorite but its better than nothing.

something like 80% of the country is a mountain. When I was at Osan last time the only weekends I didn't climb were exercise weekends.

I haven't climbed outside yet...too busy snowboarding. now it is warming up so I will be getting outside soon. I have been climbing at the 2 walls at Camp Humphries which is about 30 min from here.

mil-mil...a mountain does not a rock climb make. In the little bit of exploring I have done all the small mountains near Osan are covered with trees and vegetation and no climbable rock that I can find. Any idea where the closest spot to climb is from Osan AB?

I would say easiest to get to from osan would be all of the climbing in Seoul and probably Ganhyueon and Yeongso Pokpo. I remember Yeongso being one of my favored travel destinations due to only having to take one train to get ther and it only being about 2.5 hours. Outdoor walls are also doable during the work week. I used to go to Tuoksome resort outdoor climbing wall after work in Seoul. There is also a gym in Osan city.

I am counting on you guys to find some goodies for me!! :-) Not exactly looking forward to a remote (again) but do want to make the best of it. I snowboarded once there a "few" years ago. How is it now?
