Oct 18-19 Yongseo Falls
Autumn in Jeonbuk is always beautiful!! Yongseo Pokpo rocks, plus, yeah. . . I still have work to do there!!
Anyone (everyone?!) interested in joining me this weekend? Lots of camping, minbaks are another cheap option and it's right on the train line (less than W5000 from the train station or a 15-20 minute walk)
I'll include a free veggie meal for anyone who RSVPs (and of course, shows up!!). I think most people who have been here will agree, this is one of Korea's off-the-beaten-path (not in your Lonely Planet!) crags that is really magical. . .and has about 70 rock-climbing routes of all grades!!

Clearly, I only meant to post once (even if it is a really nice place). . . here are some logistics:
From Seoul, catch a direct train at Yongsan Station. You have 10 to choose from. The There are 10 direct trains a day from Yonsan Station in Seoul.
1501 Yongsan Guryegu 06:50 11:25
1503 Yongsan Guryegu 08:10 12:59
1121 Yongsan Guryegu 09:00 13:22
1505 Yongsan Guryegu 11:05 15:56
1507 Yongsan Guryegu 12:50 17:27
1509 Yongsan Guryegu 15:05 19:48
1123 Yongsan Guryegu 15:55 20:11
1511 Yongsan Guryegu 16:25 21:21
1125 Yongsan Guryegu 18:10 22:19
1513 Yongsan Guryegu 19:25 00:09
the #1500 are just over W20,000 the #1100 (faster?) are W30,000ish.
From Daegu, best to get a bus from Seobu Terminal to Namwon from 7:55am to 7pm. There are 7 daily and they take 2 hours. From namwon, get a train-- there are 10 a day, though several at weird hours and none between 1 and 3:30PM!! so don't arrive in Namwon at 1!! The train to Gurye-gu from Namwon take about half an hour.
There are direct trains from Cheonan, Suwon, Jeonju, Yeosu and an easy connection from Gunsan. . . let me know if you want to come and you need help figuring it out.
From Gurye-gu Station it's a quick taxi or a pleasant walk (head right. . . walk below the tracks. . . through some farms and keep looking left into the mountains. . . you'll see it from the road, in the distance) to the crag.

Actually Will and Beth and some not 100% commitals have PMed me expressing interest. . . Alec is right-- post here-- the place is killer and we've had a lot of good times here!!
The new Gwangju guy should come as it's like his home crag. Hopefully Greg'll come up from Yeosu. Maybe even some Jinju folks. . .
From Jinju, it's under W7,000 and there are three connecting options:
The 1921 from Jinju to Suncheon 10:56 12:18
and 1508 Suncheon to Guryegu 12:49 13:08
or the 1941 Jinju to Suncheon 13:03 14:35
then the 1512 Suncheon to Guryegu 15:01 15:21
Finally, the 1953 leaves Jinju for Suncheon 15:55 17:19
and connects to the 1516 Suncheon to Guryegu 18:01 18:19.
If Jinju folks wanted to leave early they could get a bus to Suncheon (7am to 7:50pm 14X a day 1h30 mins)then one of 10 daily trains (between 5:47 AM and 3PM) to Gurye. . . the train station and bus terminal in Suncheon are walking distance.

Phillipp, hope you can make it. . . with you and Alex I'd get some excellent photos for sure (though to be fair, Kim-lee was dressed as Elvis when he worked the 12b, and that's hard to beat). If you can't get the car, you can get a train from Changwon to Suncheon then up to Gurye:
1921 Changwon -Suncheon 09:25-12:18
1508 Suncheon -Guryegu 12:49-13:08
or 1941 Changwon- Suncheon 11:32-14:35
1512 Suncheon- Guryegu 15:01-15:21
1953 Changwon-Suncheon 14:23- 17:19
1516 Suncheon-Guryegu 18:01-18:19
these are just the best connections-- there are more trains up from Suncheon-- but no direct busses there from Changwon. . . you'd have to go through Jinju or something. . . maybe push for the car. Looks like you'd exit the 10 at Gwangyang and head up to Hadong towards Ssanggyesa and on to Gurye. . . probably pretty quick. . .I generally drive in from the N, but I'll be coming from the S this weekend, so the exits, etc should be fresh in my head if you call!
Min-jung, we'd all love to meet you, and I can't think of a better place to try out real rock!

in the process of seriously reconsidering/rain-chequing all previous engagements to make it to the pokpo on saturday afternoon. thanks for posting the train scheds. I've a stove, are there places to eat/stay in gurye? At least some groceries to buy or are we needing to bring everything in? This place is seriously a must see, if not climb. Thanks Sonia. Could you conceive of any reason why i couldnt get a cheap room at the shop on the approach? Sure save on pack weight.
