Hi potential partner

I want to meet a group of regular climbers to train and go on trips (anytime, anywhere) I'll arrive to Korea on Mid May 2009

I'll live in Ilsan (near Wondang station, NW end)

if you are not interested, but know a good gym(s) in the area, I would appreciate the info.

please reply this or send me an email to [email protected]

cheers and happy climbing!

Hey Mao, I live near Ilsan.. actually out further from Seoul than Ilsan (i swear its almost North Korea). Anyway, I just joined the board and would love to meet a fellow climber. I dont know of any places right now. By the time you get here I hope to have a little more info.

Hi Nate 45

you made me laughed with your N-Kr comment

I just received 2 replies fron Josh and Choon Yea Shin:

Josh: wants to climb (has some spare gear) and lives near us. (010-2437-3624 - [email protected] - Dongducheon, N of Seoul)

Choon-Yea Shin: (016-243-5556 - [email protected] - Incheon): recomends the following gym near Ilsan.

Ilsan happy boulder climbing gym
Address: Goyangsi ilsanseogu deahwadong 2141-3
Ph: 031-921-8848 / 018-230-9900
Owner: Seok-Won Song (M)
Location : daehwa station wayout 6, on the other side of Dejean high school...

PS: Choon-Yea Shin's local gym: Incheon climbing center (032-817-5014)

this leave us at least 3 people, at the moment, ready to climb. I think we should all meet at that gym and then make big climbing-trip plans

I'll arrive on the 16th May and I'll be happy to climb ASAP. when do you want to meet for a climb?

Mao

PS2: Shanja (Jake - http://www.koreaontherocks.com/forums/member.php?u=2 ) is organizing a big climbing trip (June 5-7) to Ganhyeon (near Wonju) which I'm already part of (I just need to arrange transport)

Talking ok, sunday :)

HI Nate45

I finally arrived to Korea, after a long trip (1.5 days transiting in Malaysia :s)
I'm free to climb tomorrow (sunday) afternoon from 3p if that's ok with you.
I have my personal gear (harness, shoes,...), a 50m rope, 10 quickdraws and some ohter bits. what gear do you need?

I was told that there are walls free to use in some locations aroud Seoul, I still have not look into this.

give me a call to 010 4554 9074, to conform or change any of the above

Cheers

Mao

Mao, Didn't make it Sunday (obviously)

I have zero gear right now. Left it all in the states. I'm having it sent here. I only have a harness and shoes. I need to get the other stuff and I'm not opposed to buying it. I gotta warn you. Ive spent alot of time in the gym, but ive never outdoor climbed, and I've never lead climbed or belayed without a grigri.

I'm down to boulder whenever if I can find some shoes. I'll climb wherever I can borrow gear or till I get my stuff here.

Red face

Hi Nate45 (whats your name?)

last Sunday, I waited for a call or SMS
anyway, went down there, but the boldering gym was closed!! (don't get their busness hours :s )

today I went to "O2 world", a gym near Bukhansan Mt (60km N of Seoul), but again, no luck, it was closed (indefinitely) for renovations

I was looking for one of those public walls and this one seems ok. http://www.koreaontherocks.com/climb...sort%3Dname%26
*gear hire available

let me know what you think... and lets climb ASAP

Mao

PS: dont worry too much about your experience, if you are keen and alert, it should be fun!!

Hey guys both those walls are right in Seoul, not outta it. Also try these walls as they are pretty cool too. Get a subway map, and see which ones are close to you. Subways are the best transport in Seoul - no worries about language or delays.

Hope you get some great climbing in, and remember to check each others safety and calls.

Mao,

I'm Nathan (everyone calls me Nate). How about Saturday morning at the wall you suggested, Boramae Park Climbing Wall. The gear rental looks good to me. We could meet in Seoul Station (via bus), or on the train out of Ilsan.

Let me know what time is good for you. I'm totally free Saturday. I've been told that the bus is the best way to get to Seoul from where I am. I usually take the train because it's easy (but slow). I want to try the bus.
