Advice to an American moving to Seoul for the summer
Hello, I will be moving to the Gwangmyeong area of Seoul from the middle of May to the middle of August for a job opportunity. I am a very experienced climber but do not have much international experience. Looking at what climbing opportunities there are in the Seoul area I would like to take advantage while I'm there and do some climbing.
My question is what gear would be most advantageous to bring. As far as having enough to climb and enough to tempt someone to partner with me. I would rather not haul extra gear back and forth for the summer because I won't have a ton of time for climbing (this is a work trip first).
1. Shoes, harness, chalkbag, helmet, some spare biners and slings. Bare minimum to be able to go out with someone bouldering or borrowing rope/gear.
2. Option 1 plus rope only
3. Option 1 plus light rack and some draws only
4. Full load. Option 1 plus rope and gear.
Any advice would be appreciated. If anyone is looking for a partner this summer I am a solid climber with 10 years experience throughout the US and 5+ years guiding at the New River Gorge in WV.
