KOTR is looking for a new owner. Are you a developer, a climber and have plans to stay in Korea for a while? If so, email me at [email protected]

Chuseok - Seoraksan
From what I understand, there's a fair contingent of folks here who are interested in heading way, way northeast (argh!) for some climbing and camping over Chuseok. With any luck, the weather should hold and we should have some fantastic climbing opportunities on and around Seoraksan, including various multi-pitch routes.
I'd like to see who's interested in heading up to Seoraksan for a few days over Chuseok and start arranging accomodation/transportation/food.
So . . . who's game? Anyone interested in some great camping, great climbing, and great company?

Express bus tickets (the big ticket with an assigned seat) can be purchased in advance. Inter-city buses (regular tickets) won't make sure you can actually get on the bus. The best bet for that is to get there early, line up, and cross your fingers.
I think you can buy tickets over the phone and pick them up if you can't get to the station (for example, if you want an express from Gwangju, I think you can have someone call to make the purchase) but I'm not sure about that, nor do I know how to go about doing it.

Hey guys,
Before you make the trip to Seoraksan, make sure you check the beta and your gear. Of the areas listed on this site, all but Sotuwong Falls and Agulbawi require cams and/or a pair of ropes. A safe, convenient climbing "team" consists of no more than three people, and each "team" will need the minimum gear for the routes they wish to climb.

Since so many folks are heading to Seorak, I posted some additional route topos and info and one map (sotowang) that may be useful.
I have a lot of info on individual routes and areas, re: gear and beta, but way to much to translate if no one is interested. Feel free to PM me (soon-- we split tomorrow AM early!) if you have an idea where you want to go!
Also, wherever you go, I'd appreciate your route notes (including camping, approaches, gear, opinions, etc) and please take plenty of photos, especially if you can gat full crag shots.
