If you’re going to Seoul Station, you’ll have to bus/taxi or subway (9 stops) to Cheongnyangni Station. Busses may be a better option altogether. Below is a non-comprehensive list.
The Wonju Inner-city Bus terminal is about 15 minutes N of Wonju Station by foot, or a cheap cab ride. Innercity Busses go to E Seoul every 10 minutes, Sangbong 14 times a day, Chuncheon 10 minute intervals all day taking 40 minutes, Gangneung 30 times a day, Sokcho 8 times a day taking 4 hours, Cheongju at 20 minute intervals and taking 2h40, Daejeon every 30 minutes taking 3h20, Daegu and Busan 10 times a day each, taking 2h30/4hours respectively. And of course, busses leave Jeonju at 9&11AM, 2&4PM and take about 4h20 to get to Wonju.
The Express Bus Terminal is SW of the train station. . . almost worth getting a taxi to Kanhyon from there. Express busses run from Seoul all day in 15 minute intervals and take 1h30, from Gangneung every 40 minutes and take the same, and from Gwangju in 1:15 minute intervals taking 4 hours.
Local public transportation: (city bus between Wonju and Kanhyon-ri comes every hour-- it runs in front of (slightly left-- an obvious bus stop) Wonju Station (but not by the bus terminal, though I’ve heard rumors of service starting? anyone?!). It takes about 25 minutes to Kanhyon.
A taxi from Wonju runs about W15,000.
The resort is a 10 minute walk from Kanhyon Station. . . everyone leaving the train will pretty much be heading there!
Air : Wonju Airport (flights between Cheju and Wonju 11:20; 70 minutes-- if Dan is ambitious!)
Drivers: Yeongdong Highway, exit the highway at Munmak IC. - take National road 42 to Wonju (Northeast)- 4.3km ;Turn left -cross Donghwa Bridge and take county road 88. Pass a small hill on and drive 1km more until you arrive at Jijeong Elementary School and Gyeongjanggyo under a steel bridge. Keep going straight for 2.4km, to the entrance of Kanhyon.
If you want to get a minbak, there are now many in the resort, but some are quite a distance from the climbing. These are some good ones close to the climbing: http://ganhyun.co.kr/
Just after the last drivable bridge is: http://www.kanhyun.co.kr/
You might want to call/have someone call and make reservations. Not much English spoken.
For information/maps/photos of everthing from the climbing to the restaurants and noraebangs, but alas only in Korean, go to: http://myhome.naver.com/kanhyundisc/index.htm
