Wes, I'm probably gonna head down Monday so count me out on the return ticket. Thanks for setting up the tickets for getting there. You're the best! So, 11:00 Thurday night. I'll be there! Talk to you soon.

Greg, you should stay up there! I'd love to see you, can't wait to hear about the euro trip.

Hey all, I've been reading the posts and am very interested in joining this trip but have a few questions and hopefully Ill get an answer or two. I only have a harness and shoes and can climb up to 5.10 something in the states, could do 5.11a though not lead and I havent climbed in a couple months so thats prob not true anymore. Question, are there people with similar abilities going that have equipment and that I can climb with?

Thats all assuming I can still find a bus at this point....

Here's a few things I think you should all know:

1. The shelter at Biseondae holds about 80 people and according to Korean climbing friends should be fairly empty over Chuseok. The shelter has a convenience store and fairly decent restaurant, good gamjajeon and bibimbap.
2. Anybody expecting to do easy single pitch sports climbs from there is going to be sorely dissapointed. There's only big, commiting multi pitches, that require trad gear. It's not even possible to just do the first pitches as a lot of them are 35m-40m and lack decent protection.
3. There are heaps of boulders around there, so if anybody has a pad, that's an option.
4. The only place in Seoraksan with sport climbing is Agulbawi (sp,) but it's nowhere near the shelter and is a ballache to get to. Info here:

Having said all that, it's a beautiful spot and the hiking, bouldering, river swimming and company should make it a great time.

Holler

Oh dear. I was misled. That's a little disappointing. But I've got badminton racquets and a frisbee, so no one panic.

There is sport climbing near the entrance, and it's really good. The bolts are more spaced than at Ganhyeon, and the rock is different, so it'll build your climbing repertoire.

There's no harm in hiking your #4 and #5 cam into the shelter--it's an easy hike. Most "trad" routes are overbolted in Seoraksan, so any cracks that wide would probably have bolts. For example, the splitter handcrack on A2O has four bolts next to it. Ulsan Bawi routes may be less bolted. For most routes I'd bring one of each cam to #3, nuts, lots of quickdraws, and even more slings.

Does anyone know what the differences between the General and Excellent classes of bus are?

Will the general bus be intolerable?
