KOTR is looking for a new owner. Are you a developer, a climber and have plans to stay in Korea for a while? If so, email me at [email protected]

June 27-July 5: Surprise vacation
All of a sudden I have a vacation from June 27 through July 5, so I'm putting my feelers out for folks to climb with. If you have any of those days off get in touch and let's send!
Ideally I'd get up some big granite. I just stumbled upon Yonghwasan (용화산) in Gangwon-Do and it looks stellar. Seoraksan of course comes to mind, as does Wolchulsan or stuff around Daejon. Since it will probably be rainy, some sport like Seonunsan or Maisan might be steep enough to stay dry. I get stoked from obscure places too, so if you just have days off before teaching lemme know.

I wouldn't mind joining in on a camping / climbing trip around that time if you would like. I will have July 3,4,5 off.

We're free until July 3rd...Haven't met any climbers yet and we're so antsy to get out on some good rock. We'd love to join if it's possible to get near the location by train/bus (we're car-less). We have a rope and a bit of other equipment we can bring

Wow, so much response! Thanks friends.
As for types of climbing in Korea, pick your poison. Myself I like big granite of Seoraksan the most. It's more user friendly (weaksauce?) than Yosemite, with bolts next to cracks, but still amazingly fun. There's great sport climbing: limestone at Seoksal Bawi (Seonunsan), basalt at Yongseo Pokpo, and conglomerate at Maisan. There's new boulderfields discovered often.
Poke around KOTR, see what looks good, and post what you'd like to do. Dream big!

I've only been to Ganhyeon twice (fall Meet and Greet 2007, once in April 2008) and would love to go back there!! Maybe June 28-30?? Sunday, Monday, Tuesday? My plane back to the US leaves on Wednesday. Crazy to think about....

I would be keen to go to Ganhyeon
I will be around Won Ju around that time, my grandma's place is just 15 min from the crag
As I'm on holiday I would be keen to climb during weekdays
