Bouldering in Daejon

Hi, I'm gonna do an exchange year at KAIST this fall + spring and was wondering if anyone had any tips on where to boulder during my stay. I'm mostly familiar with indoors bouldering, but tips about outdoor would also be nice!(Don't have a mat with me though, is it expensive to rent mats?) I have been mostly looking on Daejeon Climbing Gym and other gyms, and was wondering how different they would be from an traditionally climbing gym with a big open space?

I'm also planning to apply for KAIST's climbing student organization.

Hi,

Yes there is bouldering within the Daejeon's city limits. Although there aren't that many routes, it's generally good and highly textured rock. It's located in the Dong-gu (eastside) are of the city and you'll probably need to get a car to get to the trailhead. You could technically walk/taxi/bike, but with a bouldering pad, those options would be a headache. I don't have the GPS coordinates but give Eddy Park ([email protected]) a shout for all your climbing needs when you get to Daejeon. Here's a video of the place.
