In light of the terrible results of the earthquake that hit Haiti earlier this week, the KMPL is supporting trusted, secular organizations in their efforts to send aid. The KMPL homepage currently reads:
Help Needed in Haiti, the Land of Mountains
The massive 7.0 magnitude earthquake that hit the tiny Carribean nation on January 12 has completely crippled the lives of approximately three million people. Communication, transportation, aid, and infrastructure of the capital Port-au-Prince have all been destroyed or seriously compromised.
If you wish to send support through a trustworthy, secular organization, please consider contacting Doctors Without Borders or International Relief Teams.
Every little donation counts. Please help.
The KMPL made a donation in the name of all its members and volunteers to
Doctors Without Borders. If you can, please consider a donation.
I've been asked why the KMPL chooses to support secular organizations as opposed to religious ones. The KMPL is and always will be a secular NGO and while some of our members, volunteers, and supporters may be religious, the KMPL itself maintains a naturalist philosophy. As the president of the KMPL, I maintain the stance of keeping dogma and spirituality out of good deeds of the organization.
