G'Day all...jokes aside about the Australian dialect and slang, I am looking to build a list of "standard English" terms and words related to climbing. Specifically those signals to do with belayer/ leader communication.
Those at the meet and greet might remember my (true) story of what goes wrong when communication breaks down

, so what do "textbook" climbers say in your part of the world when checking tie-ins, starting a climb and doing the moves and actions therein entailed?
eg: "On belay! Climb when ready" or " Take (tension/ rope in etc)".
Please feel free to add other terms which you feel are common, entertaining or instructional too. This applies to alpine, rock, bouldering mountaineering or ice as well as gym climbing terminology.
Please include definitions if you think it might be ambiguous...I am from the Antipodes and need all the help I can get
Allright then, have fun and be safe. Thanks greatly in advance for any contributions you can come up with!
Jake.
