The M&G May 12/13 thread got a little confusing so I'm starting a new thread. I think the final thought was Taegu this weekend...but we should start planning for another one.
Let's do it May 19/20...Location TBD
I pick that weekend b/c it won't interfere with Memorial day plans and it will accomodate those who unfortunately work the previous weekend.
So, we've had (and will have) big gatherings in Seonunsan/Halmei and (soon to be) Taegu...so let's go north for that weekend. Kanhyon or even way NE? Or maybe south or east? I really don't care. Maybe those who are leaving soon and want to check out an elusive spot before they bail should voice their preference.
any objections to the date?
any suggestions for the location?

I can't go that weekend, but nevermind little 'ole me. I'll catch the next one.
only 1 objection. can we start calling them Climb & Drink instead of Meet & Greet?

Same for me - I can't make it but that is only me.

the original alternative
mangosungoddess found camping near climbing and maybe that weekend'll be beach weather!?
even though I'm doing jeju the weekend after... I pick busan. I will never go to kanhyon again. even if i wasn't leaving in a month. who else - busan? probably gotta buy tickets soon

So my wife Becky has arrived and gotten somewhat settled in so I think it's time that she gets out and about. Is anyone planning on climbing the 12th-13th?

There's a national climbing competition in Busan the weekend of the 19 and 20th. Its at the artificial wall in Dongae. I'm guessing this means the other areas will be fairly empty.

hey, should this be a camping weekend or a busan at night/crag during the day gathering? coming from the paddies, dinner at ganja (indian) (or thia) one night would be a treat but i'm open. we don't need to organize the hell out of this one, i'm just throwing out ideas...
(i'll probably head down friday evening)

Busan or Seoul this weekend ?. . . I could definitely get some stuff done at Seoul and not worry about not driving (though car has been better since Sunday?!). . . I'd be interested in knowing the plans for Busan, the transportation situation, etc. . . (does the Indian do deliveries to campgroungs?!) I'd like to check out some of the areas, from Geumjepng to Amnam Park. . . what were people thinking?

Ganga does not do deliveries, but is right off the subway line. As is the camping area.

Hello I'm new to climbing and would really like to come along to one of these 'meet and greets'/'climb and drink'. I'm Daegu and only got here last week so I don't quite know how to get anywhere yet but I'd be happy to find out! I've not climbed before but I've done some hiking. I'm free on weekends! :)

Mil-mil, contact Mary in CE Environmental. she's coming down via train and i'm sure you can travel along with her.
rucusred, contact Gargola (Miguel). i think he's coming down for the weekend from daegu (not sure). if not, deagu to busan can't be too difficult on bus.
we'll figure out a place to meet if you're coming down. my cell # is in my profile (this is a new number) .

hey guys...i tried twice to get to the campground to check it out and get directions but both days it rained and i'm made of sugar so no go. i was assured that there is a campground on geumnyeonsan mountain, stop 210 on green line next to gwangali beach but don't know how to get there from the subway. tell a taxi geumnyeonsan suryanwan or yayeongjang, i think. it is nowhere near the climing however. a taxi will be 20 mins. and the subway 40 to either climbing area at maritime uni and geumgang mountain. the campground is very close to the beach though and it's supposed to be sunny this weekend! sorry i failed in the factfinding mission! will def. have the info for the next meet.

Alright, so here's the beta on camping and climbing this weekend. The campground is in Geomyeounsan. Probably about a 30-40 sminute subway ride from the crag. We can bring our own tents. Entry fee is 500 won + 500 for a tent if you don't have one. On Saturday, there is room at the hostel at the campground for anyone who wants it. There's also a cooking area, showers, toilets, etc. Its a beautiful place overlooking the ocean!
I think we should climb at Dae Ryuk Bong on Saturday. It is at the Oncheonjang subway stop half way between the bus and train stations.
There was never consensus about a "camping" weekend versus a "night out in Busan". FYI there are bands playing in Haeundae and PNU on Saturday night if anyone is missing live music.

it's 30-40 minutes away from the crag?? actually that doesn't matter to me...I really wasn't into camping this weekend b/c I didn't want to haul all my crap on the bus (yeah...poor me), but have decided that a night in the woods/beach is exactly what i need. if y'all are up for it i'm more than game. i won't be bringing any groceries with me this time (besides wine) so i'll have to stop somewhere in town.

HI EVERY ONE.
ABOUT THIS WEEKEND...THE PLAN FOR SATURDAY IS TO CLIMB IN BUSAN ON DAE RYUK BONG?
I AM COMING FROM DAEGU, DOES ANYBODY IS GOING FROM HERE?
ONCE IN BUSAN, HOW CAN I GET THERE?
"is at the Oncheonjang subway stop half way between the bus and train stations. " IS THAT OK?

my week from hell has forced me to work all day (god forbid!) and miss the last bus that would get me to busan before midnight. i'm going to flail around with the bus system tomorrow first thing in the morning and try to meet up with everyone around noon. Miguel (et al) i'll give you a call tomorrow when i get in town to see if you want to get lost together. i do have the directions printed so hopefully that will help. the weather forecast is calling for light rain all day tomorrow...i'll bring my camping gear but might opt for a minbak/love motel. don't know what i'm doing for food. don't know much of anything...i can't think straight right now.
don't mean to be a downer but i assure you that once i'm in another city, outside, with good people that my spirits will rise! rain or shine, i can't wait til tomorrow!!!!

by the way, i have a new phone number: 010-8477-6257
EDIT: i'm not bringing camping gear. i'm wussing out...

We could meet at the Oncheonjang Station at 12 and head to the crag from there. Basically you take the footbridge across the road and walk one block. Catch the 203 bus to the top of the mountain. I think the trail is right at the bus stop (or else a couple meters up the mountain) and heads off to the left. If anyone has plans to come before noon, give me a call and we can head out a little earlier. 010.8680.3300

Apparently Is Going To Be Raining Tomorrow...can We Climb In This Place With Rain?
Mandalynn

I guess that depends on how much rain there. Im not necessarily one for inclement weather. Its pretty sheltered by trees, so if its misty, might be OK. But if its rain like the last couple of storms, definately not.

I've been moving house and ill this past week but am keen to get started in June!
Thanks!
