Just arrived on my first contract in Korea and am looking for a gym (and a climbing buddy) near Bucheon. A bouldering gym would be just fine but some height would be a nice bonus.

I'm still pretty new to climbing but love it and would like to get out once or twice a week. I work afternoons and evenings, like most people.

I'd love to hear from any runners who want a partner for some weekend road miles too.

Cheers,
Scott

There's a gym (http://www. bpcc.co.kr), Incheon Bupyeong Climbing (http://cafe.daum.net/bpcc), that may be your closest. I know there is also an outdoor artificial wall in Gwangmyeong, nearby. This is a great way to meet locals and get in a workout.

Get someone at work to help you. The gym's contact is An Kyung-chae 011-9725-5477

Plan to come to the Meet and Greet (http://www.koreaontherocks.com/forums/t786-meet-and-greet.html). Take a few minutes to fill out your profile more completely!

Scott mate,
It's way cheaper to order stuff from the USA (such as backcountry.com) and ask a kindly KOTR military serviceman or woman to have it sent to their address (usually fast and free - no Korean import taxes!). To meet such an angel, come to our Meet and Greet in April. Otherwise, shoes and a chalkbag (the basic basics can be got with a bit of bargain hunting) at OK prices at one of the numerous climbing stores round DongDae Mun, NamDae Mun or Ui Dong (Bukhansan Park enterance see link to O2 Indoor ice climbing gym, Insu Bong etc) in Seoul. Look around Bucheon and you'll doubtless find a few local stores too. If it's your first pair of shoes, remember size and fit are everything. There is a thread here on KOTR all about that issue...use the search thing to find it. And welcome to KOTR and Korea.
