So today I signed another contract. I also got my schedule, which in a seeming repeat of last semester, finds me off from Friday 10:30 AM until Tues 10:30m AM. I suppose it is clear why I keep signing on: I love my job, but only because my job loves me:hippie:. (Did I mention my school built me a climbing wall on campus and hired a belayer for me? Anyway, it's as if they know I am too lazy:couch2: to haul my *** across town to one of the gyms. . . and they actually care). . .
:focus: so anyway, I updated my "wish list" (er, wish book) for Spring destinations, and I'd like to hear back from willing accomplices. I do hope to get a car soon also:car:. I'll start by listing several ideas here and later, as I hear from interested parties, I'll flesh them out in their own threads. In order of the ones that are first in my mind, etc. . .
1) Ulleungdo, Gyeongsangbuk-do I was here many years ago, but without a partner. This time I want a partner. Had a ferry booked (with partner) last Chuseok but it was cancelled due to weather. Always that possibility (I was delayed a day when I did go-- the seas are often choppy). Pumpkin taffy.
+es, beautiful, remote island-- close to Dokdo; charming seaport willages hugging the rugged coastline. Some developed climbing and a wall. -es, not convienient if you live in the West; ferries at the mercy of the spring weather gods. Lots of dried squid everywhere, and the smell thereof.
2) Jejudo, I was there almost 2 years ago and still have enough Asiana miles for a free trip. I need to book extra early as spring is high season!! I plan to rent a car-- possibly camp or stay with Dan. Dan climbs really really well, so I want to go back to Eongtto and let him ropegun. I want to see Musucheon and climb there and post a photo or two! I also want to check out some places of rumored climbing. . . and some possibly vegetarian restaurants (that, well, still have seafood)
3) The climbs near Jeonju. This is kinda set for whenever the Jeonju International Film Fest is-- sometime in Spring. Everyone can come to Jeonju, and we'll get cars and do day trips to Seunim and Sangsa. . .
4) Bull (http://www.koreaontherocks.com/climbing/areas.php?area_id=107&q=area_type%3D5%26)-- the artificial wall, but damn it looks cool. I really want to get there soon, though I may have to go back when I can get to the horns. Could be combined with any number of other areas nearby for the weekend.
5) Sancheong (http://www.koreaontherocks.com/climbing/areas.php?area_keyword=&area_type=&area_province=&area_city=44&area_park=&area_userid=&sort=name), Gyengsangnamdo. Went. Saw. But didn't really climb a lot. Ready for round two. JJimjilbang in town. Not much else.
6) Insubong. Aye, here's the rub. No Sat or Sunday outings, but I'm good for Monday!! Haven't been on top the bong since last millenium. . . but now I'm kinda thinking, why not if you're staying in Korea, but on a weekday? Anyone?!
OK, post or PM me with thoughts on these or your own wish list. I promise nothing (not even that we'll find it) but usually deliver more
