Anyone here a mixed martial arts fan or train or compete in the sport in Korea? It has been brought to my attention recently that the sport is beginning to take root in Korea, although I have only been able to find one gym in Seoul. I understand that judo/yudo has been quite popular for a while.

Mixed martial arts has by far been my favorite sport for nearly a decade now. For those that don't know, it combines techniques from sport-based martial arts such as kickboxing, boxing, wrestling, jiu-jitsu, and judo into one beautiful beast. The biggest promotions right now are Ultimate Fighting Chamionship (UFC), based in the God-blessed USA and Pride Fighting Chamionships, based in Japan. K-1, a Japanese kickboxing promotion, has also added MMA bouts to their cards in recent years. It is no longer the bloody spectacle from the 90s that lacked rules and featured one-dimensional stylists and unathletic brawlers. It has evolved into a true sport with rounds, rules, weight classes, and classy and well-rounded elite-level athletes.

Anyway, I love this sport and want to to resume training in Korea (or at least find a good judo school). Or just have UFC/Pride/K-1 parties like I used to in America...who's with me?

Royce Gracie IS a pimp. He opened a lot of eyes in the early days. And because of him, you can now watch amazing fighters like Fedor Emalianenko, Matt Hughes, Chuck Liddell, Georges St. Pierre, Takanori Gomi, Matt Lindland, and so many more compete in the greatest competitive sport ever. Ever.
