HI Eric,
Looks like we are going to try and head down on Friday night. It takes us about 4 hours, with gas and piss breaks to get there. I'd rather be there sleep in a bit and climb then show up after a 4 hour drive and climb. I think we might have some room for a person. I will know today how many people are going with us. My number is 019-801-1739 we will have our cell on. I've got directions fro Mun bawi and soksal as well as Halmaeni Bawi.. do you want to meet on Sat at a particular rock spot???? Hopefully Tyler will come down from Daejon also. Not sure who needs rides or how that is working out. I can't speak for Tyler but it can't hurt to ask. I saw Oread and another are looking for lifts.
Peace to all bring a light heart and some good spirit and it should be a great weekend. I wouldn't mind starting off on Halmaeni bawi. I liked that place and the rice paddy should make for a cool back ground, pluse it gets more crowded on Sun so we could move further into the park? Peace out Brother man.
P.S. Jenny or Oread if we have room I'll let you know If we could pick you up when we pass through Daejon, it's on our way if you don't mind hanging around in a dark alley for while with some drunk adashis hehe.

Sweet!

Here's my deal. I am planning on heading down Friday night.

oread & Jenny, you are more than welcome to hop in with me. PM (http://www.koreaontherocks.com/pm.php?id=1) with what time you get off of work and when you can get to Daejeon. The best place to come is too Yuseong bus terminal because its right near the highway and my apartment.

antepater, did you reserve the room at the hostel yet?

Personally i am more into staying in the park saturday and sunday. possibly soksal saturday and munbawi sunday, and they are in walking distance of each other. halmae bawi is a 15 minute drive from the park. plus after we finish climbing on saturday we could eat at the little mountain restaurant in the park. just an idea.

anyway, let me know who needs a ride and we can arrange a meeting time.

I am sooo looking forward to 2 days of climbing especially after not climbing this weekend!

What's everyone bringing?

I am planning on bringing:

1 - rope
10 - quickdraws
3 - slings
1 - Camp stove
1 - car stove (for the hostel room)
2 - pots
Some ramen and other instant type food.
Some snacks
some beer
Some water
etc...

Is anyone else bringing a rope? I have 2 extra if we need them.

Is anyone else bringing a stove/pots/pans?

What are you planning on doing for food?

Does anyone need any gear?

Here is the latest info I have.

I booked a room for 6 at the 산운산관광호탤 Which is the Sun un san gwan gwang hotel. the cost is 90,000 total about 15,ooo a piece. I only booked it for Friday night so please don't bail out if you said you were coming other arraingments can be made on Sat a.m. if this is too steep for some of you. The Youth hostel was full when I tried, sorry. But at least it should be comfortable to crash in and I informed them about a late check in on friday night
Its under Tomas so just say my name.
I am bringin all gear, a rope full rack and sports stuff plenty for anything.
Also I'll bring some coffee, beer, snacks, beer, water, and beer.
Really looking forward to this should be a good one

p.s. Hotel phone number is 063-561-3377 if you want to call for specific directions it's in the same place as the hostel.

Awesome antepater!

BTW, is that room booking for Jenny, oread and me too?

Can't wait!

Have you heard from Oread n Jenny? The answer is yes anyway but I was just checking. Yeah I only booked for the one night because I didn't want to lock everyone into a bill they didn't want. I figured it would be nice to have a little sleep before the first day on the rock and all. How is the group for gear? You hear from anyone else on this thing? There might be another couple coming down and Tyler migth show up on Sat a.m.
Where did you want to climb on Sat inside the park or did you want to try Halmeonie before the crowds show up? I am flexible and don't really care. Just thought it might look good in that rice patty this time of year. Peace.

I've heard from Jenny and from the post above you can see what her plans are. bummer... I haven't heard from oread. dont know if she is still coming down.

As far as where to climb, i could skip halmae bawi, but i dont really care. i have been there so many times. my preference is to stay in the park but it doesnt matter that much to me. one thing to consider is that munbawi and soksal have more climbs for people who are just starting out. halmae bawi is a little harder overall.

Jenny
Bummer! So you wont be coming down to daejeon friday night, right?

oread
are you out there? do you need a ride friday night?

antepater
10-12-2004, 01:38 PM
That's a bummer Jenny! I would just blow it off if you could. Tell them you just won't be here. My boss always tries to pull the surprise meetings and I tell him sorry but Iwon't be in town and that's the end of it.

If anyone else needs a pick up on Sat or so just give me a ring andd I can try andd give you a lift. Peace the Tomas

i sent a pm to eric.
i am still interested in coming down friday night, but here's my deal.
i live in hongseong, which is somewhat close to daejeon. i can catch the 530pm bus from hongseong to daejeon, but on a friday night it would take about 2.5 hours because of traffic. which puts me at the dongdaejeon bus terminal around 8pm. and i'm wondering what time people are returning home on sunday? the last bus from daejeon to hongseong leaves at 7pm, so i'm thinking i may just public trans it home on sunday.
gear wise all i have is me, my harness, atc and shoes. i do have a little snowpeak gigapower stove and lantern, but no fuel. haven't really looked to see where to buy camping fuel in korea.
my phone number is 010-3315-1593.
so does that sound like it might work? i guess this is directed to eric, cause it sounds like i'd drive down with you, but we'd get a late start.
