if you are planning to be in Korea in November, if you have not already done so, please remember to vote absentee in the mid-term elections this year (It takes a bit to process and get the ballot to you, especially if you are not in Seoul). If you are unaware of your candidates, their records, etc, you have plenty of time to check them out. You can vote in whatever state you "plan to return to".

with primaries already held in many states. . . don't wait until November as the candidates for major parties are chosen now! the people who do turn out for causcuses and state primaries have not been doing a very good job of choosing candidates thus far. It takes some effort, but it really is our duty in a "democractic" society and neverr before has it been so important that all citizens (re)claim that right. The embassy has provided some useful tips and links at: http://seoul.usembassy.gov/voting.html

It's easy enough to not vote when one is home, especially given the candidates we have had recently, but clearly this approach is not working! please take the initiative! Anyone who votes and then climbs with me afterwards, listen: I will buy you a beer. Copy the signed envelope before you send it. Don't care how you voted. . . it will not affect the quality of the beer.
