Do you want to climb or just hike and camp? I ask because I haven't heard of too much climbing in Jirisan.

Maybe you have already found these but here is some info on:

Jirisan (http://www.npa.or.kr/chiri/eng/npa/building.htm)
Gwanaksan (http://www.korail.go.kr/eng/train/train/gyeonggi_seoul12.html)

I have never been to Gwanaksan and have never climbed in Jirisan. Sorry.

good luck

Not really planning on climbing anything in Jirisan - just hiking and camping, but I thought I'd ask anyway, since I can't seem to find much information or forums on camping in Korea.

Thanks for all the help!

I would definitely recommend Jirisan for hiking and camping. It's huge, strattling three provinces. You might actually be able to get away from the crowds and get a nice multi-day hike in. Also, there are shelters (that you are supposed to stay in) scattered all over the park. There are also huge waterfalls.

Sounds like fun!

Yeah, I've heard about these shelters... It sounds kind of weird. Does no one use tents over there? Do we even need them?

I'm just wondering if these are enclosed cabin-type things or what?

Also, do you know who I can call in order to get permission to camp there?

I don't know much about the shelters cause I have never stayed in one. I think it's a floor and you don't need a tent but I'm not sure! Don't leave your tent behind just yet...

You need to go to the link 'Jirisan' from my previous posts, look at the map and see what shelter you want to camp in and then call and make reservations for that shelter. The numbers are all on the website.

good luck
