Hey all,
I'm back to creating more maps to crags and I need your help.
The coordinates given in the Halmei Bawi site description do not match up with my memory. In the image below, you can see two HB locations...the top one is from the site description coordinates and the lower one is where I think it should be (granted, I've only been there once).

the driving directions say
...Shortly after that hwy 22 takes a sharp turn to the right and heads towards Seounsan. Don't go right. Stay straight and after about 2km you will come to a bridge. Take a left BEFORE the bridge. Drive down that road about 500 meters...

the mentioned "sharp right" looks like the location of the upper HB point.
Can anyone confirm one or the other?

Also, it looks like Mun Bawi (http://www.koreaontherocks.com/climbing/areas.php?area_id=11&q=area_type%3D1%26) should fit on this map, but I have no clue where it is.

thanks!!

some more confusing coordinates from Shilli (http://www.koreaontherocks.com/climbing/areas.php?area_id=37&q=area_type%3D1%26)

Does this look right?

hey ricardo

nice job!

well, i busted out my 1:75.000 map to take a closer look and wouldn't you know it, halmaebawi is in the 4 corners region. so 4 scans later i got this following images.

there is, as far as i can see, no name for the road that halmaebawi is on. but you can see the bridge im talking about.

the image for soksal (above) seems to be missing the resevoir (Do Sol Ji). so i posted 2 maps, 1 with labels and one without. soksal and munbawi are rough estimates as the scale of my map is too big (or small). but i am 99% on halmaebawi.

let me know if you need anymore info from my map

thanks man!!!

Shilli looks about right-- that is without the station or landmarks. Coming from the E on 22 (I think) isn't Halmae Bawi on your right (behind the small lake, but visible). When I get back, I'll check the guidebook.

Rick, hope you're not working too hard on maps this winter!

not working nearly hard enough on them. but as mentioned, i have some really exciting data...no really! 5m imagery and 5m contours are the highlights.

Halmei is definitely on the left, behind the restaurant and lake. i just updated the location based on the imagery.
but the image below may help you refine the location of the other two...

here are my guesses on soksal & munbawi. when you are climbing and you get above the tops of the trees you can see the resevoir. i tried to draw the "trail". it may be that soksal and munbawi are the next valley down (south) but i can't tell for sure.

also, could you post a picture of the area a little more east of the part marked halmaebawi and without the marking? at the base of halmaebawi is a little pond but im wondering if the marker is covering it up.

thanks rick!
