Hey Guys,

I got a quick question for you. I have only been in Korea for approx three months now, and I am looking to pick up some gear. I was wondering if anyone knows of some shops in the Daegu region with some decent prices (my local shop has some rediculous prices). I'd really like to meet up with some who knows the ropes in the region. Thanks a million.

hello JM
Shoot skinsk a PM as she has a listing of shops in Korea. She's out of the country for a few more weeks so it may be a bit before you get a reply.

Basecamp and OK mountain are two of the better gear shops in Daegu. Basecamp is near Daegu Power Climbing and OK mountain is downtown. Pm me for better directions.

thanks bvoborsky,

what are the prices like there? My local shops has ropes priced aboved 500, 000krw. Everything there is super marked up. I know where power climbing is...so where abouts in that area are these shops?

Thanks for the help!

You may be better off odering online. I have yet to find gear other then shoes and harness at a resonable price here do to the import taxes that stores have to pay here. If you need to get stuff PM me for an alternate to getting stuff here. I have to go to Daegu for work sometimes if you want to link up let me know. I have been to Power Climbing and the owner was really cool not sure where the shop is that is close by but there are a few guys that go there that do speak english. There are some places that I want to check out hopefully it will be warm enough the next time I come down.

Hey Shagymb,

thanks for the reply man. I currently have someone helping me out with some online purchasing for, so hopefully I'll have some within the next month or so. I have meet Mr. Pak (?) from Power Climbing, and he is a really cool guy, and the students that climb there are also super nice. Luckily I have met some climbers in the Chil-gok region at my local gym, which is a lot closer than the Power Climbing facitlity. So with luck they'll show me the ropes. Any time your in Deagu drop me a line and we can meet up. All the best!
