Hello,

I just moved from Mok dong to Mapo gu (near Gongdeok station) in Seoul. I was hoping to do some sort of other exercising rather than pushing and pulling things (the gym).

Can anyone give me some information on getting a rock climbing membership for the winter?

prices?...
gear?....
where abouts...?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Josh.

Josh,

Check out the link on the side menu that says "Gyms" for a place near you. It is fairly comprehensive and the prices are generally accurate.

Gyms run around 60-100,00 per month (depending on size of gym and how many months you purchase at once (more is cheaper).

Shoes 30-260,000, for your first pair try to go with someone who knows and listen to them. A good pair of beginner shoes will run around 50-75,000

Chalk is 10,000 a bag and a chalk will run between 7-30,000.

That's all you need for most gyms in Korea, they are typically bouldering only (in a basement or one floor of a building). If you want to get into roped climbing later you will need more gear, but for gym training: shoes, chalk (chalk ball, actually), and a chalk bag.

Have fun and train smart.
