Is there cross country skiing in Korea

I guess i always assumed that there wasn't any cross-country skiing in Korea. But is there any? If there is, where? how much are rentals?

Hey Eric,
I don't know much about costs of the cross country skiing, but for sure there is skiing here. A resort in the southern part of korea hosted the World University games not too long ago (i think Muju..), and I had a buddy who competed in them. But the best place for nordic is supposed to be Yongpyong ski resort near Pyeongchang...i think there's some other resorts around yongpyong who have it as well. They're tryin' to get the 2014 winter olympics and the nordic sites are already there!!! I'm new to this country, but i brought both disciplines of xc skies, and i'm stoked to go check that out when the snow comes!

I've seen the resorts advertise for cross-country, and it seems like Korea would have great places. . . I kinda want some skis, so I can ski around my home when winter comes, as I was known to do around Boulder. . . I may be around the ROK at least part of the winter. . . anyway, if anyone sees some skis in a window somewhere. . .

Went to Yongpyong.. less than impressed with my day, but did find out that you can rent skiis there. The nordic venue isn't actually part of the resort... when you're making your way up to the resort (on shuttle bus) keep your eyes open for a sign indicating xc skiing of to the right.. if you miss the stop, stay on the bus, and on the way back down, it's about 1k past the Dome...tell the driver to let ya off there. Walk in about 1k, and you're there. Huge open stadium.. only 3k of trails (all man made snow).. 5 bucks to ski, 15 for rentals. If you're bringin' your own skiis, make sure you have everything.. they only have grip wax.. no scrappers.

cool. i've never done it before but i really want to try. can they outfit a total beginner with no equipment?

THey'll hook ya up with skiis, boots, poles.. wear some layers and you're all set.
