This probably won't effect most folks here, but never mind....

according to the park officials, the climbing "season" has finished ( i guess this excludes ice and bouldering) so don't expect to get on those sweet multipitch routes without a bit of hassle / blagging....

Peace, G.

Good post, my friend. The whole park is closed from November 15 to December 15. Almost no hiking (except the trail to Geumgang Cave), the shelters are closed, and no climbing. The reason is fire danger, which would make no sense if every Korean climber didn't smoke.

We found this out the hard way.

Yeah, I've been hearing about this. Does the rule apply to all major parks? How about Bukhansan?

Several Parks have seasonal closures for various reasons. Hallasan, I know, only has one route to the top during the winter, for example. Occasionally it's ongoing (a year plus) closing of a trail or two to let nature regenerate. Rarely is it a whole park. It's never a bad idea to contact the park (http://english.knps.or.kr/) beforehand.

It's always a good idea to bring an extra bag (for trash) when visiting a national (or provincial) park and respect closures.
