I quite like #8. The mountain profile looks like one of the ridges in Seoraksan and the use of the yin yang in niffty. Yes, I said niffty...
Hell, they're all good.

#11 is the one, as it uses creativity, rest of them look like branded logos for a big mountain company. : )

#24 Adds a bit of culture but maybe sub the color yellow for red.
and #34. "the sun rays" add some life to the design as if you were summiting a long and arduous multipitch as the sun was setting underneath a grapefruit sky.

Big mountain companies pay a lot of money to get logos that look good...
I change my vote to 35 or 49. (They didn't show up the first time I looked).

I reckon we make a poll out of the top 4/5 mentioned and then everyone votes on those.

Gotta go with #16. Basic and to the point, as well as catches the eye. Sorry all the peaks with snow on them, look out of place, especially since Korea is pretty absent of those types of peak...besides Sokcho and even then, Treeline is right to the summit....White peak mnts don't fit here. Just an opinion.
I agree, with WES, creativity is great, but logos aren't about creativity, they're about branding...and big companies obviously know what they're doing (they hire professionals to do it for them.) Not a fan of 11 or the other more artistic ones.
So many opinions to sort thru, go with your gut, you've done well to this point...Good Luck.

Any of the 4 in #51. Normally, I don't go for colorful, but these seem to capture the upbeat style of KOTR. The others just seem too serious. These seem like they would make fantastic patches, even if they didn't get the logo vote.

I like the look of #35 the most, but #48 seems to capture the spirit of climbing in Korea the best. I just wish the "Korea on the rocks" wasn't italisized.
Thanks for everyone's input! :)
30 more logos have been submitted since I first posted this thread!
Check them out http://99designs.com/contests/28188 and feel free to update this thread with your new picks.

So many good designs. . . choosing the ones I like most reminds me of getting new glasses. Is this better than this? what about this? or this? until it's all a blur and I question my prescription!
I like the Korean flag colors, and I like it, when the design includes mountains, if it looks like Ulsanbawi, or at least a Korean-ridge. I also like when the website appears, even in fine print, as it's the key, really.
I would have liked to see more connection to rock-climbing . . . the letters of 12 were interesting. I liked reference to the original logo and yin/yang in 48. It reminds me of all the gu/gun logos with the blue representing the water and the red sky etc. . . in our case, blue for bruises and red for blood! 28 struck me a bit too. . . but my favorite I think is 24 (but in red for the "sun" and not yellow!) Now I will go read everyone else's comments and see what my non-designer's eye missed.

I think webistyle's designs are the best ones there. 55 or 48. Will there be an official poll at any time?
Edit - You ponied up $300 for this contest? Impressive.

I like 54, 9, and 48.
There's only 1 day left so feel free to update this thread with your picks, regardless if you have already posted or not.
At this time, I'm very impressed with #70 (http://99designs.com/contests/28188/entries/70). The icon is a great combination of the YinYang symbol in the flag and a craggy mountain range. Also, the font looks similar to brush strokes of a Korean calligrapher. Additionally, it's simple, easy to use on shirts, hats, water bottles, stickers, websites, etc...

Thanks Eric! See you in Korea.
Thanks Eric! See you in Korea.
Thank you!
For those who don't know, GMarc is the creator of the new KOTR logo and has done some hiking in Korea.
We're still tweaking the colors a bit but you get the idea. I'll be getting the new logo on the site very soon.
Thanks again, GMarc!

Likewise, Thanks GMarc and Eric. The design is cool and hopefully we'll all meet up somewhere and brag about it's coolness over a climb and a beer.

I think a general word to the wise in the future is to provide only TWO options for people to choose from, preferably stark contrasts to each other.
