Hello again, KOTR community.

I've been trying to meet anyone near my home that climbs but it's seeming pretty dead. The only 'public' gym in Jeonju seems closed. I recently went to the outdoor wall they have in Jeonju University and the place was a ghost town.

Anyone want to help a fellow climber out? If anyone is living near Jeonju, if anyone is planning any trips, or if anyone can recommend who I should be talking to, that would be really appreciated!

I have all my climbing gear, sans camping gear. I just really want to get outside!

Help!

Hi Ali,

JCC are a super friendly bunch of people and are responsible for bolting some really stellar steep sport crags in that area. (Seonunsan, Opera house etc...). Message lindsay lkiehn for contact details (she's back in the states now but I'm sure she'll help).

There are a fair few climbers in Gunsan which is about 30/40 minutes away by bus and there are loads of people in Daejon. Fret not, Jeonju is a wicked place to climb. Next weekends there are proposed trips to both Daejon and Yongseo Pokpo. Both aren't too far from you. Take your pick, it'd be ace to see you at the crag soon.

ta,

Will.

Did you try the big outdoor wall (http://www.koreaontherocks.com/climbing/areas.php?area_id=244&q=area_type%3D5%26area_city%3D36%26sort%3Dname%26) ? It might be that people are just going there now? You might also try the Jeonju Hub (http://www.thejeonjuhub.com/) . You can try posting for a partner. I thought there were a couple of foreign climbers there on KOTR besides Seungbin and Lindsey (both good sources).

Have you made it to Seonunsan or Maisan/Opera House yet? Both were popular with the Jeonju climbers, though you might try Samcheon Bawi also, though it's harder to get to via public transport.

Thanks for all the tips skinsk. I hooked up with the Moac Climbing club a few times and I met Seungbin at the big outdoor climbing wall. Starting to feel more at home now. Sam Cheon Bawi is pretty crazy!! Man, the locals are very strong over here!
