It's a terribly sad day for the climbing community again. Go Mi-young, arguably Korea's most accomplished all round (female or male) climber has died on Nanga Parbat's slopes. She had won (? placed in top 3?) the world womens ice climbing championships when I 1st met her at the Daejeon gym years ago and was such a warm and modest person. She is one of the stars we see in the double issue guide books to Korean rock - sporting a spiky blonde haircut and huge smile. She had also successfully summitted several other Himalayan giants and astablished many great routes across Korea. Her loss will be ean normous blow for all of her friends, family and indeed the climbing world. She was truly a wonderful person who cared very much and deeply about others.
It appears that she had successfully summitted Nanga Parbat, and was on the descent route somewhere near Camp 2 when she probably slipped and fell; although this is speculation as no-one saw the accident. Her bady was found (the next day?) after a search was organized when she failed to arrive at camp.
