Hello,

I am in Seoul for a few days, and am dying to get out this weekend (June 20/21). I've brought my climbing shoes, a harness and belay device with me -that's about it, though. I understand the weather won't be great, but I'm willing to take a chance. I'm not sure whether the couple of climbing trips posted on KOTR are easily accessible from Seoul. Sorry, I'm a bit of a stranger to Korea, don't speak Korean, and am a bit terrified of trying to find my way around.

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much - Vinita

Hi Vinita,
Yeah the weather looks a bit dodgy...alas! But you might be OK. Getiing about Korea isn't hard actually (even if you don't speak a word of the language!). Most bus/ train/ taxis have enough English to make it a total no-worry...and the timetables are written in English too (usually). Seoul subway is the most user friendly in the world!
This weekend trips....hmm, I dunno what's happening, but there is a good and active Seoul crew (I'm not in Seoul...in Daejeon which is central Korea) who are surely planning on hitting the rocks/ walls/ gyms or boulders. Maybe try private messaging (pm) Gabe (gt29905) as he seems to know what's happening up there.
If people are climbing at Ganhyeon/ Ganhyun/ Kanhyon then that is a 2 hour train ride (it has a station right near the crag!) from Cheonryangri station in Seoul (only 3 trains a day though...7am, 1pm? and 7pm I think). Great place!

Thanks! I suddenly feel a bit more hopeful. Yes, I'll pm Gabe and take it from there.

Happy climbing :) Vinita
