Has anyone climbed, or have information about Mang-ju-bong (망주봉)on Sun-yu-do. Sun-yu-so is an island off the coast near Kunsan. There are two domed rocks at the north end of the main beach. There is one bolted route I could see on the beach side. Would like to find more information on other routes... www.sunyoudo.com.

Sorry, I don't know about Sunyu-do, but I am also wondering about climbing on Jebu-do (no, I DON'T mean JeJU-do) on the west coast near Incheon, etc. There looks to be a bit of a rock outcropping and a pillar. Don't know if it would be bolted or not...maybe some trad climbers would be interested??? You can see an example of what I am talking about at the following URL. (If it doesn't work, sorry, let me know, and I'll try again.)

Speaking of trad, I am really interested in learning to trad climb. If anyone would not mind giving a few lessons, and would like a partner and belayer :), please let me know. My priorities are safety and learning the basics well. If you feel comfortable teaching a newbie, let me know. I have a car, a 60m rope, 8 draws and belay devices. I have been sport climbing for two and a half years, off and on. Currently, I am in the 5.10 range, although I have climbed a 5.11a and a 5.11b (after about 16 attempts!). I live in Yongin, (30 minutes SE of Seoul), and climb at Camp 4 climbing center in Anyang. I would like to go rock climbing at least two weekends a month.

Take care!

Heidi

hhhmmm looks interesting indeed.

I'd be keen if anyone has the gear ...

comfortable on gear up to about 5.9 and will second anything if you know how to build an anchor ;-).

If I had gear I'd be happy to show you what little I know Heidi ... but I don't soooo :-).

J5nn2 as for 망주봉I have absolutely nothing to offer I am afraid, but if there's a convenient way to get there from Seoul (i.e. no car required) I rekon an exploratory trip is not out of the question (I have summer holidays as of the end of this week :-)
