Crazy weekend! More than 30 odd ( and I do mean odd) KOTRers showed up for an absolute ball. So many highlights to name, that I can't name them all. Superb work organizing the min-bak and food, thank you Kyung Ah and Su Jin, and also to Hyo hon (Mo-Mo) and Dong-il who kept us well lubricated with beer and makkoli and soju.
The scariest part of halloween was not the costumes (although Les dressed as as Ajumma was scary enough!), but probably the sheer number of new peoples names to try and remember and the odd new lead.
Congrats go out in spades to Aiko (Kovo) for onsighting a 10a on her 4th ever day of climbing, to Brandon for his lead on the multi-pitch, to Kris for his Herculean endurance session on Saturday sending 4 of the hardest routes in succession cleanly! Carrissa also for her 1st lead ever, and to Gyu-jin, Hee-don and Kyung-woo who had their 1st ever climbs.
Thanks for those groovy cats who helped collect the firewood, clean-up the rubbish by the campfire and did the wshing up etc. I know Mira, Aiko and Kyung Ah were involvedthere as was Jon, Josh, Kris and Les.
It was a poignant and fitting farewell also for Sonia who more than any except maybe the big E himself, has made KOTR what it is. We all owe you Sonia, so much thanks...the beta, the belays, the rides, the pics the laughs and memories. Good luck for the new life in Slovakia and for the book. You will be sorely and surely missed here in the ROK.
