Hey all,

I am the Scoutmaster for BSA Troop 86 at Osan AB and we are looking for someone with climbing experience who would like to volunteer as a Merit Badge Counselor for the Climbing Merit Badge. If anyone is interested in helping, please send me a private message and I will link-up with you as soon as I can!

I'll get a copy of the Boy Scout Merit Badge pamphlet for climbing merit badge to you so you can see what info BSA supplies. The Climbing MB requirements can be seen here: http://meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php/Climbing

We have about a dozen boys who are active, plus a couple of adults who would like to learn as well (myself included), and we normally meet on Wednesday nights at Osan AB.

Also, if you have any expertise in another field of endeavor and would like to help us out as a MB counselor for another MB, we would love the help! Here's a list of all MBs BSA offers to Scouts: http://meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php/Merit_Badges

I hope to hear form you soon, and thanks in advance,

Chuck Altvater, aka Greenman
Scoutmaster, Troop 86
Osan AB, Korea

Hey, I'm super busy but I think this is a great thing for people to get involved in. I credit the boyscouts (via my brother) with getting me started in climbing!!

Do post photos when it happens!

Hey Chuck,

You beat me to the post. I was going to put this on here but had not gotten to it.

Like I said in the email I will help but will need some help. I was hoping to talk Jake into coming up and putting his spin on things seeing as how I think he is one of the more edumacated climbers we have here on the site. By this I mean he has actually taken courses in climbing etc.

January is looking ok for me if you want to start looking at dates and times etc.

And like I told you when I saw you I may have figured out the issue with non military using the walls so by then that should not be an issue. I am also thinking about hosting a climbing Comp in Jan here at USAG Humphreys and we may be able to cordinate that with a workshop of some kind for the boys.

Later,

Mike

Mike,

Sorry, didn't mean to cut you off on the post.... Being a not-even-rank amateur I am looking for all of the help I can get in helping the Scouts learn about climbing!

Speaking of which, I plan to see you on Thursday nights whenever I can get over there!

We can talk about dates when we see each other. We can deffinately work January...and I was thinking of doing an outdoor climbing campout in April maybe... We'll talk about it.

And of course if anyone else is interested, I think we could certainly use their help too!

Thanks again, Mike!

Chuck
