The climbing in South Africa is awesome! I highly recommend a visit. It is a beautiful country, where the climbing is excellent, the landscape majestic and the living easy... I am from Cape Town, and am hugely spoilt with sedimentary sandstone and granite with a multitude of sport, trad and bouldering routes. All of these are within an hour's drive of the CBD. Check out www.climbing.co.za for RD's and more info. Enjoy!

Yo, I'm not sure where in the country you are headed to, but if you are going near Johannesburg I can set you up with some climbers. Possibly Cape Town too- university clubs.

Climbing around Johannesburg is pretty miserable- one great trad area 1 hour away, 1 great sport area 3.5 hours away. Cape Town much better. Anyways, give me an email if you need some contacts. Other areas are good and bad. One the whole, it's well-worth the trip. If you climb pretty well, Outdshoorn is entirely worth whatever time you need to get there. If you are a psycho- trad climber try blouberg- highest routes in the country supposedly amazing but too tough for me.

saclimb.co.za worth a look as well.
