I'm planning on (finally!) hiking across Jirisan over the last week of March, and I'm wondering if anyone has any educated guesses as to the weather. I know it's a bit colder than the surrounding areas, but what about on top? Will there still be any snow?

Kurt is flying in from Colorado, and we're trying to figure out if he needs to bring stuff for really cold weather or not. Also, would a 40 deg F sleeping bag be sufficient? I assume the shelters are not heated.

Any info would be appreciated :)

Actually the bigger shelters are heated! Over-heated in fact. If you book in at these you will be sweet. THe top can be really chilly if there is any breeze at all. I'd definitely take a good warm jacket each, beanie and gloves. May well still be a bit of snow there, but not like a full ground covering...just sheltered and shady patches. Just in case, take a pair of those dinky 8000won walking "Eisen" crampons, and a good pair of hiking boots.
