Hi, anyone with a MTB in the Busan area want to ride? I just arrived and I'm looking for some riding friends. I have joined a club in Busan but the language barrier is a problem,

Cheers

Hey Fantomas, why don't you check out this web-link. It seems pretty good and thankfully it's in English. I hope this helps mate.

I'll anwer my own question. The riding is very good, lots of climbing and many hills to explore. We (me and the Korean bunch) go every Sunday at 9.30.

I'll be in Busan this summer with my bike. I don't know if I should bring my single speed rigid or my hardtail with 5" of travel up front. I feel like the single speed may be more fitting if everything is cross country.

Is your name a Mike Patton reference?

Hey there,

the riding is pretty average in general as there are no hand cut single track sections and walkers seem to get to every mountain trail available but saying that it still justifies me bringing the bike over, it's a good way to get fit and meet Koreans who love riding with a foreigner and so far I have not had to fork out for lunch.
Some suspension is needed so leave the singlespeed at home. There are quite a few techincal downhills to negotiate and some techy steep uphills as well.
If you've never been to Korea before, the summers are hot and sticky and tough for riding!
Yes the name is from one of Patton's very noisy bands.
Cheers!

If you're still there and want to ride I should be there in twoish weeks. I opted for my hardtail with the long travel fork. I'm up for urban or trails. I will need to get a new rear wheel first though.

that's good news man, I'll be in Busan for quite some time. I have my holidays soon though after summer camp but come mid-late August I'll be up for a ride. I usually go up Jangsan near Haeundae Sat mornings which is a tough 90mins noose shaped ride then out with the Koreans on Sunday leaving from near Bexco in Centum, catch you around

I've only been out on my own, been invited by the Koreans from my bike shop a number of times, but I really don't enjoy the large numbers they tend to gather in.

I've done Baekyang mtn. a couple times, and Mt. Hwangryung. Pretty easy trails overall, well maintained jeep trails, a little too much crushed stone makes it tricky on the way down, but Baekyang goes up to 600m which is nice~

PM me if you're interested in coming out this way, I have Tues. and Thurs. afternoons~evenings off this week. i also know of some cool spots outside of town, could cram 2 bikes in my jeep I'd say. . .
