KOTR Calender

Hey man, I'm back with another crazy idea that will prob'ly be impossible/ not worth the trouble, but thought I'd mention it.
Hows about a "pop-up" (maybe that isn't the right term) or click on-able link KOTR calender. It could display the whole year, month by month (as calenders are wont to do) and have public holidays shown (like with the date in red - like paper calenders do) and up-coming trip dates also highlighted (maybe in green or with a symbol etc).
So for example if someone posted an upcoming trip for Feb 22-4th, the calender page would have those dates "green" or with symbol to indicate someone has posted an upcoming trip for that date. By then clicking on that date it would automatically redirect one to the thread about that dates activities.
Likewise for public holidays it would show them in advance so funky folk could plan climb days, trips, long weekends etc.
I have never seen this feature "in action" but maybe it's possible. I guess the programming difficulty would be in the auto linking of posts made in upcoming trips to register on the calender, and vice-versa in auto redirecting someones click on a "calender upcoming trip date" back to the thread.
Dates with multiple upcoming trips might need something else...I dunno.

Oh shoot! You can already do all of this on the calender on the left tab link thing. Forget/ ignore my previous post. Why doesn't the KOTR Calender get used more? I guess we don't know about it.:o

Yeah it is pretty sweet, and look! At the bottom of the forums page it lists calender posted events for the next 21 days. Only been on KOTR for 4 years or something before I found this feature:doh:

eric, if you put the "calendar" link up in the "navigation" heading it might get more usage. maybe even include the "add event" links in the "post upcoming trip" page??
btw, i put an event in for todays awakening.

i've added the link to the calendar to the top of the page and i've also added a message/link to post your event in the calendar when you are creating a new thread in the Upcoming Events forum.

About the holidays, I can add those if you give me a list but the Lunar holidays don't work so well as the calendar is not very smart. So it's a holiday that happens on the same day every year, i'll add it to the caledar.

I added all this years listed public holidays. These are good ways to organize major upcoming events like the Spring Meet and Greet.
