Shops in Seoul

There are several shops specialized in climbing gear right next to each others in Cheonggye market.

To get there, take line 1 to Jongno 5-ga, exit 5, and take the first back alley on the right.
After 50m you'll see the first shop. The others are really close.

not been there myself, but just as a confirmatory response some of the boys in the Kyung Hee alpine club say those shops in Jogno are pretty well up there with the best places to get gear in Seoul.

I'll be very interested to head there sat afternoon too if anyone is keen.

There's a lot of shops around there, all pretty much in the same street.

I went saturday to check out these shops. Some where hit and miss but you could negotiate. You could pick up all the normal brands found in korea plus many other brands i haven't seen here before. They even had yates screamers and sets of aliens (700,000 for a set of 8). But there are lots and lots of shops with deals to be had. One shop had 5.10's on sale for 37,000 (v10, anasazi, moccasym, ascent etc). I also found some guide books (all were in korean). But lots of fun if your a gear junkie.
