I'd love to get together with folks the weekend of October 20-21. Anyone have any ideas? Wherever we go, I can probably convince a handful of folks from Mokpo to come along.

Jess-- maybe Gwangju? Mudeunsan? Pretty close for most people, and a transport hub, even for those from afar. . .

I'm in.

Sonia, were you thinking Yaksa Amjang? I love the idea of Gwangju from a transportation standpoint (though a 2.5km approach sounds yucky - or is that just for Saeinbong?), but I have to admit that the idea of rappelling and all that unless we have a solid number of people with experience worries me.

Well, you could just lower in, then. Saein is pretty much the choice area-- you pass Yaksa on the way. Anyone who plans to climb outdoors at all should know how to rapell. Better sooner than later-- a super easy skill easy enough to back up, double check etc. Since we have so many beginners-- in the Gwangju area-- that could be a good thing!

I'm interested, but I'd have to come late - I'll be teaching until noon on that Saturday.

2.5 km approach with a rappel to get to the climb? Eeek!

Oh come on, I'm a total wuss. . but it's a good trail. . . the weather is cooler. . . we take lots of little breaks and eat snacky things. . . ! I might head down Fri and see if Seonbi Bawi is any better. . . that's the other crag in Mudeungsan I was hiking up to when I broke the foot in May!!

Why are you teaching on Saturday?!

Oooh! This sounds fun. I'm in!

(and I mean it this time. I'm not even looking in the general direction of a bar, much less entering one, until fall is over. Not even if another coworker is having a send off party I feel obliged to go to.)

Yep. I'll bring rope and rack.
Mokpo?

Mokpo?

That suggestion brings me great joy. My apartment is too small to have more than one person stay (and even then it is a tight squeeze) but let me know if you want me to ask around for an extra room/floor space.

My apartment is big enough to host a fair number of people (a quick eyeballing tells me floorspace for at least 8 or 9 comfortably). I have one sleeping pad, one yoga mat, and a few not so comfortable blankets (but there if anyone wants to pack light) to donate to anyone on my floor.

Another option is to do Gwangju the 20/21, and then have the next weekend in Mokpo. I could host then, too.

The last weekend in October isn't an option for me. If people want to go to Gwangju this weekend, awesome (though I probably won't go), but if people are willing to come here, I would LOVE it.

So where is this happenning? If you cats fix a place I'll pop down with required gear, and a spare harness or two, spare shoes and 2 maybe three ropes. If anyone from the northern belt wants a lift (I'm leaving and returning to Daejeon) pm me or post here, likewise if you want any gear.
Once again, where is this happenning?
Regards and such,
Jake (Kyung Ah may or may not be coming...see how that goes).

Well, from the looks of it, there are about 7 Mokpo-ites down for Kokkiri Bawi... so I guess things are going down here?

I'll be in Mokpo, and it would be awesome if other folks want to head down/over/across town.

Hey, how far is it to the climb from the bus terminal? I'm thinking about making this a one-day.

5-6,000 won taxi ride.

What are you thinking? Saturday or Sunday?

Okay, that sounds good. There are newbie routes there too, right? I have a couple friends who really want to come.

Saturday seems most likely.

there is for sure at least one 5.9 (basically, a 5.9- from what I've been told) - don't know much more.

Since it looks like it might just be Jeollanmado kids, give me a shout on messenger if you want to talk about specifics.

Looks like a change of plans for Jthe deep south - because of the number of new kids versus the number of lower-level climbs, it looks like it is Yongseo Pokpo again. The plan right now is for all day on Saturday, with most of us heading home that night.
