I do love going out and meeting y'all for climbing, but I think some weekend in the near future I might just want to kick it on my home turf... and I'd love for someone to join me! There are four Mokpo-ites on kotr (that I know of) and several more within spitting distance... would anyone be in for the 13th/14th or the 20th/21st?
There's climbing on Kokkiri Bawi - I haven't been yet, but I hear it's nice. I don't have all that much in the way of gear, so to make a successful climbing weekend someone with rope and draws would have to come - but I'd be happy to host people for a weekend of bumming around and maybe doing a lazy hike up yudal-san as well. I have floorspace for all :)

I'd be down for Mokpo one of those weekends. . . Kokkiri Bawi is cool, and I know Ironpalms had been working on a 2nd Yudalsan crag. . . Ricky?! I'd be psyched to go back to the Loghouse and/or Waltz.

Please not the 13th/14th! I'll be out of town that weekend.

On the 20th my friend is getting married and I'm gonna wear a Hanbok!!!! Yay!!! So, I won't be able to do it that weekend. But maybe the 13th. I can't make any real promises except that if I have to be out of town (probably in Kwangju) I can offer my house and gear.

Maybe we should head to Mokpo this weekend, as Ricky and Jessica have conflicting Oct weekend plans and mostly it was Jeolla folks getting together this weekend anyway?! I'm guessing Busanites will go to their festival and northerners will see Les off in style. . .
Ricky, will you have the real fancy pastel hanbok?! The chiffon-y floaty stuff! That'll be pretty cool!

Hmmm... well, have the busan folks officially backed out of the southern M&G? If yeongseo isn't set in stone and people want to just come to Mokpo this weekend, then I'm all for it. I don't want to interfere with the M&G if it's still happening, though.

i think the busan folks have decided to stick to the (SE) M&G. don't worry about setting up a SW M&G though...i don't think they were willing to make the trek to yeongseo anyway. (all in the selective perspective of a central korean dood of course).

Looks less like a M&G and more like people hooking up with thier neighbors this weekend. I think it's still too early to "predict the weather", esp by the weather sites!
It seems like all Jeolla folks who'll be going, and mostly Namdos at that! (Not that anyone couldn't join us?!) I could do either, but it might be nice to hit up the city. . . hang out. . . jump out of windows, go ato a noraebang. . .But I could do Yongseo too!
Are the Yeosuites interested and/or available?
If I drove, who has parking?! Who has the nicest place? Would we want to go to Jindo or a little around the area besides Yudalsan?

We would hugely prefer going to Yongseo this weekend as we have a memorial service for a friend to go to on Sunday evening.
Are there any plans for Halloween yet? Perhaps we could do Mokpo then.

We're definitely in for Maisan tomorrow.
Pressing engagements aside, I was really looking forward to heading out to Yongseo Pokpo.
What's the general consensus? The pokpo or Mokpo for this weekend?

I do love the Pokpo :) That was my original plan for this weekend anyway. Let's continue on with that.
I would be ok with Mokpo for Halloween, too, I just thought most people were headed up to Seoul. This arranging a weekend thing is getting more complicated than I really intended it to be... maybe I should make a poll?

maybe I should make a poll?
oh, like that makes it easier:lol:
A lot of us will be going to Seoul for Halloween (weekend). . . but probably not everyone. (There's a KOTESOL Conference that weekend. My school pays me to go, so I thought I'd combine the two.) Mokpo is also great for late season. . . get in some early winter days in the sun! I was thinking on heading to one of the Veggie Places for Thanksgiving!
So, are R and J down for the POK!?

Hey Guys,
I have made a couple post before, but I am kinda out of the loop. I mentioned before that I am new to climbing, but want to get into it. Anyway, I am from Mokpo and I see there will be people climbing down south. I am just wondering if I can tag along this weekend. If so when and where?

Shannon, Yongseo is the closest to Mokpo, but still not the most direct trip! It's not a bad place for beginners, though. You can get a train W to Suncheon and then N to Gurye-gu (the train puts you in walking distance or a cheap taxi to the crag). You could also take a bus to Gurye, though you might have to go through Gwangju for this. Gurye is on the Jeolla (train) Line and not the Honam (train) Line that Mokpo and Gwangju are on, so there's nothing direct. The crag is a little S of the "city" . . . if you take a taxi, you want to tell the driver to go to 용서마을 (write it if your pronunciation sucks!) He'll bring you to the orange "mushroom building" and you can follow directions on the post (http://www.koreaontherocks.com/climbing/areas.php?area_city=73).

Hey Shannon - I'm still not sure what my plans are for this weekend, but I'm thinking about heading over on Saturday during the day for at least a little while. Because of the transfer between the bus and the train stations (or the difference between the taxi to the crag from the bus station instead of from the train), the train will probably be the fastest and easiest way to go about things.
I'm going to move the rest of this conversation to the "southern climbing thread...
