Alright so I have a break between December 21st and December 30th and I want to get out of Korea for a bit. Any suggestions on where I should go? I have spent a considerable amount of time in Tonsai and dont plan on going back after the new developments. Thailand is not really an option. I have narrowed it down to either: China, Mongolia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philipines. If you have travelled to any of these spots please give me some beta on either camping, climbing, hiking, surfing, etc. Peace and thanks

Mongolia is known for particularly harsh winters. I was there in August /September and it was snowing already. It was amazing, but save it for summer or very early fall.
Yunan in China is amazing!!! I can't say enough good things about that place. The food, the people, the landscape, is all amazing!!! There's alot of trekking in the northern area. There's a couple sacred mountians and Tiger Leaping Gorge. You might wan to check on the weather though.

Weather will be good in Indonesia, Phlipines, Vietnam, . . . haven't been to the first in ages, but I guess Bali has become a touron nightmare. . . while parts of the country are waiting to be discovered. Philipines is good for beaches, diving, though I've never been for the holidays-- likely to be peak season for most of SEAsia. Vietnam is a great place to visit, but the climbing can be hard to reach (you need to hire a boat, and hope your boatman can find the crags. . . ) Another close option is Taiwan, with camping near the crags, though winter can be rainy (or not). Camping by the crags, and some fine looking trad climbs. Temps about 5-7C can be nice for sending!

I second Amanda's comments on Yunnan. We went this summer and it was beautiful (and really cheap). We started in Dali, went up through Lijiang, Zhongdian, hiked Tiger Leaping Gorge and got all the way up to Dequen. They remote areas had beautiful hiking.
