Ok, i haven't been on this site for months which i really regret but i finally found some locals here in wonju that climb the one outdoor artificial wall here. So i bought my harness and shoes!! baby steps!! anyway i read that i should get a size smaller than normal shoes, so i did and it's really really tight. is that normal? any advise will be appreciated. thanks

back in the day, and for super sensitive slippers like the old boreals, etc, that was the conventional wisdom. . . yeah, the 80s. . . climbers bragging how much their feet hurt, and what eating disorders they invented to get to anorexic. . . of course, men were wearing lycra back then too:eek8: -- none of which I'd recommend today. There were not so many shoes to chose from, and prices were high.
Shoes will stretch (esp unlined), and while you don't want a sloppy fit with bunches of air pockets, the sheer number of shoes available means that most people can find a shoe that fits in the reasonably comfortable zone. Once you wear them, they're hard to return. I know too, that men with big feet have more limited choice in Korea. But you don't want to have shoes that hurt so much, it keeps you from climbing!
