Soyo San View Full Version of Soyo San

Province Name: Gyeonggi-Do
City Name: Dongducheon
Type of Area: Rock Climbs

chossy granite, a few decent overhangs mostly under one pitch. There are no bolts or anchors but many top rope problems and single pitch leads.

From Dongduchon a cab to Soyo-san is 5000 won, or just walk down MSR 3 for a couple of clicks untill you see the huge Soyo-san Arch and take a right. Follow the paved trail up to the waterfall and either go left to the Buddhist monostary or go right to the best climbing. Just wander around and pick a rock, chances are you can find a virgin route!

Safety Concerns
No bolts or anchors, lots of loose rock, dirty routes just the way I like them

Gear to Bring
Due to the short routes you can pack light. One rack of cams, one set of hexes or nuts, a few slings and a 60 meter rope is sufficient for 90% of the routes here. NO BOLTS! It is all toprope or trad!

Additional Comments
Food vendors at trailhead, spring water available at several locations along trail. Nice place to climb if you live in the area, and I have never seen any other climbers there and I go every weekend.

if there's no bolts or anchors, wouldn't it be "trad" and not "trad/sport"? sport climbing by definition is bolts (or in a few places, fixed slings). . . but all fixed pro!
