Family Climbing Center
Submitted on March 13th, 2007 by skinsk Type: Gyms    Province: Gyeongsangnam-Do    City: Busan
photo Just opened 03/03/07-- to fill the niche for families that climb, but if you lived near by, and like kids, it's a good gym with as much or more than the others in the area.

Membership is W50,000/month; open from 10:00AM-11:00PM, some Saturdays and closed Sunday (when members head outside.

Mr. Lee Ku-Sung is friendly and speaks a little English.... [Read More]

Flowerpeak Mountain (꽃봉산)
Submitted on December 8th, 2006 by skinsk Type: Rock Climbs    Province: Gyeongsangnam-Do    City: Sancheong
photo Granite rock in the center of town. Half dozen vertical routes, about 10-12 meters. I am guessing at grades-- I've only tried the routes on the left, which are rather featureless, even when you get to what appear to be features. We thought the routes right looked easier, but it was getting late. . . and in any event, they didn't look super easy, so there may not be a 5.9?... [Read More]

Gimhae Climbers

photo Centrally located basement gym. Has showers, some weights, lots of gimmicky-fun things (jacob's ladder with rolly bars, campus boards, belt massager. . .)

Open M-F with trips around the area on the weekends!
Various membership options (check photos).... [Read More]

Guksabawi
Submitted on July 27th, 2010 by OOBMAN Type: Rock Climbs    Province: Gyeongsangnam-Do    City: Geoje
photo The rock at this crag is a conglomerate of granite and volcanic flakes, it can easily be top roped, for access to its 6 routes. Five have shiny new cable and ring configurations. The 5.10 route has a two bolt set up to make your own anchor that route also has the only bolt. The rest are very difficult as hand holds become difficult to find on the second level. It would be a great place for aide climbing practice. The routes are no higher that 40ft and the view is spectacular.
One route has a crack that progresses up into a cave chimne... [Read More]

Hanbaek Climbing Center
Submitted on March 28th, 2008 by skinsk Type: Gyms    Province: Gyeongsangnam-Do    City: Ulsan
photo Basement gym that's been around for a long time. Their website has some of the best information (in Korea) of climbs in the area (and Seoraksan). There are some fitness machines, but mostly just a large bouldering area with varying overhangs.

W20,000 a month for membership. Climbing school and trips are available. A few members speak English.... [Read More]

Hidden Wall (숨은벽)
Submitted on May 6th, 2008 by skinsk Type: Rock Climbs    Province: Gyeongsangnam-Do    City: Miryang
photo 4 bolted routes and a lead-able crack (opportunity for additional pro exists) on a hard to get to face. The first two routes are nice lines-- a 5.10 route up a series of flakes and a 5.11 corner crack up a series of roofs-- the other 3 require some bushwhacking and start on less-than-ideal ground. Still, the face is so beautiful it gets it's own overlook!... [Read More]

Igidae
Submitted on May 5th, 2009 by yandy Type: Rock Climbs    Province: Gyeongsangnam-Do    City: Busan
photo Sea cliffs similar to those at Seongdo, but from what I can tell none of it has ever been climbed. At first glance I thought the rock would be a bit flakey, but after a few tests, it seemed pretty firm. Loads of pockets and jugs, roofs, aretes, the lot. A few of the climbs would have to be trad multi-pitch. I also think it would be fairly easy to put up a top rope on some of the smaller pitches.

At the base of the cliffs there are heaps of boulders. Lots with roofs and overhangs. Most have so many pockets they look like Swiss cheese, hard Sw... [Read More]

Jeokdeokri: Sangsa, Buchae Bawis
Submitted on March 23rd, 2008 by skinsk Type: Rock Climbs    Province: Gyeongsangnam-Do    City: Tongyeong
photo Three nice rocks overlooking the sea and the village of Jeokdeok boast about 25 routes, a few 2 pitches. Some moss and a little dirt, but the rock is pretty solid. The bolts look pretty solid and the place is kept up well. Most of the names are written below the routes, and (sadly), most of the bolts (and often the surrounding rock) are painted red. A few of the routes have some run out sections, and at least one (a one-bolt wonder) has decking potential. Some nuts or small cams might be helpful.... [Read More]
